The wimpy kid that gave me hope

Isaiah 9, came home all exited on Friday about something all the kids his age had in school and how much he wanted one, my heart sank as I dreaded a request for the latest computerized hand held game or some other gadget. Reluctantly I asked what it was and he replied a book!! I asked again, because I could not believe my ears...................... my son nine, whose sole interests are in this order

Play Station 3
Nintendo DS
TV
(REPEAT)
has just asked me to buy a book for him, the book is called "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney, he said the book is a series and thus far there are four installments. After the initial shock, I agreed enthusiastically to buy the book, but first I said I have to look it up online to get an idea of what the book is about and how suitable it is for his age, also knowing the price would not hurt either, after all it is the month of January and after the Christmas shopping I'm not exactly liquid, if you know what I mean.

After deciding to purchase the book, I called bookstore at the mall and as luck would have it they have it in stock, so bright and early this morning we went to pick it up, we were the first persons in the store, eager like groupies buying tickets to their favorite band in concert.

So book in hand we came home, I read the first 3 pages to him, the book is really funny and a good read, it's a mixture of cartoons and regular text written in a font looking like
comic sans for those of you who are microsoft word junkies like myself

Long story short it's a book, and he's reading, willingly and without bribe, or begging or the thinly veiled threat.

Aaannndd every now and then he shares a funny anecdote from the book with me! I am enjoying this!

I can only hope he keeps it up!!
