It's fertilizer Friday and my friend Tootsie is our hostess! Tootsie is our resident garden guru, and she has brown thumbed folks like me hitting the commercial greenhouses buying up plants because of her passion for plants and mind boggling talent for growing them from seed, so after viewing what I am feeding on this Fertilizer Friday, hop on over to Tootsie;s blog and see what everyone else is feeding!
I love petunias, so recently I went over to the garden shop/greenhouse and purchased a few, when I got there they were watering the plants with an overhead mister and it looked so pretty I just had to take a pic
I bought about eight petunia plants and a few lantanas, I have to take the planting slowly and build my confidence being new to planting and all, I took my plants home and waited a day before transplanting I wanted them to become acclimatised to their new home.
While at work I had an ambitious idea, why not make two giant planters like Tootsie does with the petunias? I thought why not? I got really exited at the idea, I already had the pots and I remembered Tootsie gave step by step instructions about making her planters and as luck would have it there was some syrotex hanging around the office that day because of a new printer that was purchased, I pounced on them before the cleaners did! The syrotex is needed for stuffing the plant pots so that less pro mix is used.
And now without further ado, my plantings, remember they are recent transplants and have some growing to do, since planting this pot I have added four impatiens to the pot for a fuller look.

Raxx you are hilarious, how did you explain taking that huge sack of styro from the office. I know it is very handy to fill the big pots saves earth and you can actually pick to pots up if needed. Your petunias are gorgeous I love the white ones en masse and I learnt something from my visit here Tootsie says that lantana keeps mosquitoes away, I m off to get some of those, your again are beautiful. I know you will soon be planting up a stunning garden and I cannot wait, happy weekend, Kathy.
YEAH!! I am so excited for you! Your pots look great~ I've never had much luck w/putunias here but I love lantana, too. Next Friday I will post a pic of my yellow gold lantana peeking through the roses. I read that Tootsie said they help keep mosquitos away~ we have TEXAS size mosquitos here( especially since after all that rain/flood ) grrr.
Happy Planting!
Hugs~ J
You go girl! You're off to a good start! Just watch those petunias. I have to water mine all the time because they wilt in the hot FL sun. Pain in the ass!
Okay, I planted some seeds recently too. We're not supposed to fertilize them at all?

Sounds like you caught the Tootsie fever!
Our rental will be a small unfurnished apartment.
Good morning sweet lady, I was just about to fertilize as it's friday (even Vanni calls it fertilizer friday now hehe) such a great idea and if Tootsie does this again next week I would love to join in all the fun. You had me in fits of giggles with the styro at the office story but I think you should let little Gabby make snow hehe. Your side bar is looking so beautiful with the flowers and adorable photos of the little ones, I am off to feed and weed now a gardeners work is never done, you know that don't you?, with your job, your hubby, the house, the kids and the garden, there will be no more time for cruises lol. but it will be worth it to see them ALL bloom.
Now that I have taken up so much of your comment space I will be off, but I will be back, happy weekend. Kathy.
Something I wish I had was a green thumb. I kill everything!!
I love petunias too!
oh my goodness, i have never seen so many plants just waiting waiting....though if you cab't eventually eat it, i hesitate to grow it
Hi! Popping over from Tootsie's place.
I LOVE petunias, but I'm so limited for sun I can only stick them here and there and then sometimes the sunny spots are TOO hot. The lantana loves it down here! Mine have gone crazy.
Everything looks great! Hope to see ya next FF!!
Hi Raxx, You bought some pretty flowers! I love petunias and lantanas. Thanks for stopping by to check out the new patio. Hubby and I did work hard! Glad it's all done for now. I bet your baker's rack looks great, glad you already had one! I hope you post pics of it! Kristen
